Schools couldn't resume for classes PP-VIII for this year 2020 because of such pandemic and we  teachers and the students are all carrying out with our online teaching and learning. So, during such situations  ICT has played a vital role in the teaching and learning for those classes. I CT in education improves engagement and knowledge retention. The use of ICT in education adds value to teaching and learning by enhancing the effectiveness of learning. Even if we don't go to school, students and teachers are kept engaged and some teaching and learning takes place between the teachers and the students which shows that how useful and important ICT has become in this modern world.

Henceforth also, we never know what type of situations we may experience and it is always better to have a better knowledge of ICT for the teachers, students and the parents. On 8th October 2020, I have sent a video to my grade one students on the topic 'uses of water'. I made them to watch the video nicely and then learn something from the video.After watching the video, I have sent them an activity to do from their work book page 32 through WeChat and messenger. We teachers, students and parents were using these apps because we are familiar and it is easier and convenient to use especially with our lower classes students.

So, all my students watched the video and learnt the uses of the water and also they could do the activity that was sent to them with the help of their parents  and elder siblings. My only one student couldn't sent his work because his parents couldn't effort a smart phone. So, for him I gave the work books and the SIM to do at home. I collected his books and did the correction and the assessments. After students finished doing the activity, I have sent a video of the reading of the text 'water' class 1 book 10.I then let my students to watch the video and learn the new vocabs through my reading.

For the student who donot have a smart phone, I called him and visited his place. Then, I corrected his works and helped him to read the texts by teaching him the new vocabs and letting him to read. I did the reading assessments of my students by providing them the text through WeChat and messenger and guided the weaker students to read the vocabs using the phonics. So, this is how I help my students through online teaching and I am sure my students are learning quite a lot from it without wasting their time.

                                 Reflection on ICT integration

ICT has become one of the inevitable tool for both the teachers and students especially for this year 2020 during such pandemic. Through ICT, the teachers, students and even the  parents could manage online teaching and learning when the schools were closed. We the teachers could engage our students by giving them activities to do and learn at home without wasting their time and resource. In the absence of teachers, the educated parents could guide and help their children at home in doing the activities sent by the respective teachers. There are also some parents who could not guide their children as they are illiterate , so for them I asked the elder siblings to help for doing the activities.

On 3rd September  2020, I have sent a reader titled 'What am I' book 9 to my students to copy the whole text in their English note book with the correct spellings and punctuations through WeChat and messenger. So students copied in their note book as I asked them to do it.་I then corrected their work through we chat and messenger and commented on it .After my students have finished copying the whole text, I asked them to read it thoroughly with the help of their parents, elder brothers and sisters. I asked the students to read it for many times  until and   unless the students could read the whole text by themselves. Then only, I asked the students that I am going to assess their reading by asking them to make short videos on their reading of the text and sent it through WeChat and messenger. So like wise, I could assess the students individual reading and keep a record on it.

 There are 31 students in my class and among 31 students, 30 students have smart phones and only 1 student doesn't have a smartphone. I contact with 28 students through We Chat and 2 students through messenger. There was no network problems as such faced while sending my tasks to my students and receiving their works for correction and giving feedbacks. The  only problem I had is with the student who don't have a smart phone because his parents could not afford to buy a new smart phone.

 It has become very difficult to send the task to that child but nevertheless, I provided the SIM materials and the work books for him to do the activities at home and to get help from his elders. Some problems are like, during the lockdown the farmers could not put DATA package in their phones and few parents also could not effort to put DATA in their phones. So, these are some of the problems faced during the online teaching and learning, but whatever it may be the students and teachers are kept engaged and at least some teaching and learning takes place during such situations.`

                                     ICT for Teaching and Learning

Schools were closed since from march month due to COVID-19 pandemic and till now we are not able to resume the school but we are engaging students through online teaching. We are using Wechat and Messenger as the main platform for Virtual Education. I am teaching class one(English and Mathematics) this year. So, I use my smart phone to provide the works and do the assessment through popularly known apps such as Wechat and Messenger as parents are more comfortable to use these apps rather than Google Classroom.

ICT in education enhances engagement and knowledge retention. The use of ICT in education adds value to teaching and learning by enhancing the effectiveness of learning. ICT promotes learner engagement as learners choose what to learn at their own pace and work on real life situation problems as our country is facing now. Even if we don't go to school, students and teachers are kept engaged and some teaching and learning takes place between the teacher and the students.

On 2nd august 2020, I send a video to my students on the topic domestic and wild animals through We chat. I asked my students to watch the video and learn the names of at least 10 domestic and wild animals. So students could learn the names of some domestic and wild animals from the provided video. In the next activity i post the work for the students and told them to open their work book page 9 to do the activity. I explained them what to do by reading the instructions on the page. After the students finished their work, let them post their works in the personal We chat and gave feedback according to their work. While correcting their work I was much satisfied that the lesson very fruitful. When we send the video, children can watch the video as many times as they can and check their learning. If they made mistakes i made them to rewrite and post again.

A few students could not turn on, as they don't have a smart phones.So for those students I made a call and guided them by visiting at their places and provided the SIM and their work books and advised their elder brother and sister to do the activities. So, in this way i could help them and i got little satisfaction of what i have done.

Some of the  challenges faced during online classes are as follows;

📌Some of the students don't have television at home to watch e- learning

📌Some students don't have smart phones to learn through Wechat and messenger.

📌Some students don't listen to their parents and some parents are uneducated and find it         difficult to teach their children  at home.

📌Some students has to share the phone with his or her siblings.So these are some of the            challenges faced during the online teaching.

My Introduction.

 I am Chhimi Om and I am currently teaching in Khuruthang Middle Secondary School in Punakha.

I teach class one.

Subjects for Camtesia are English and Mathematics.

Technology has become a part of our daily life in this 21st century. In this digital native world it has become important for both the learners and teachers to be able to handle with all this technology. The teachers should be more skillfull teach the students using the ich knowledge and  incorporate this into the classroom to keep the skills relevant to real life.
